When do you really realise you’re running for President? Well I don’t know, but being able to buy maracas with your face on (that someone else has produced) might be an indicator.

Yes, that’s right Barackas! Two sets for £4!
On a more serious note, I hope for the life of me that Obama doesn’t choose Clinton. His whole campaign has be built on the premise that she isn’t good enough, to basically endorse her for the job next time would be very regrettable.

The early days of this blog were basically dedicated to Obama before anyone in the UK Press knew who he was but since the primaries have properly started I haven’t said a word.
What a good job he is doing, more than talking about change; he is already being the change by inspiring a new generation whether black or white, acting like the modern day JFK. And now it’s official, Obama has been indorsed by Kennedy’s Daughter.
And this is why…
We’re up against decades of bitter partisanship that cause politicians to demonize their opponents instead of coming together to make college affordable or energy cleaner. It’s the kind of partisanship where you’re not even allowed to say that a Republican had an idea, even if it’s one you never agreed with.
That’s the kind of politics that is bad for our party, it is bad for our country, and this is our chance to end it once and for all..
..When I hear that we’ll never overcome the racial divide in our politics, I think about that Republican woman who used to work for Strom Thurmond, who is now devoted to educating inner city-children and who went out into the streets of South Carolina and knocked on doors for this campaign. Don’t tell me we can’t change..
..Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can seize our future. And as we leave this great state with a new wind at our backs and we take this journey across this great country, a country we love, with the message we carry from the plains of Iowa to the hills of New Hampshire, from the Nevada desert to the South Carolina coast, the same message we had when we were up and when we were down, that out of many, we are one; that while we breath, we will hope.

Thanks to Sunder Katwala for directing me to a Andrew Sullivan piece in which he comments on a “generation divide” between Clinton and Obama, with Clinton highly defensive about her alleged liberalism and how she tries to hide her alleged liberalism where as Obama doesn’t.
But for me it raises a more interesting question that, if you are (nearly (though hopefully not)) running for the highest office in the world; how can you run when you think the public won’t be able to respect the views you hold?
Now I’m not saying that the public has to agree with all of a politician’s views but I don’t believe that even the American public thinks that they will agree with all of their leader’s views. But for me a representative as to be able to ague them views and values succinctly in the media and if they cannot do that – they are not worth their weight in dirt.
I make no comment on where our own politicians are worth their weight in dirt.

Last Saturday I felt in great awe of an American politician that I haven’t felt since The West Wing finished last year and before that JFK.
As you all know Senator Barack Obama last week launched his bid of the White House and managed to hit all the issues us in the UK call socialist, which is surprising when you consider that most democrats can’t bring themselves to say liberal and would struggle getting past the S in socialism if they had to spell it.
Minus the ethanol pledge he slipped in the middle of his declaration, I felt the hairs on my back stand-up two thousands miles away watching live on CNN. This guy has the power to bring The States back to a level of normality; they won’t even be kicking and screaming. They’ll be walking and they’ll be singing.
Here are two of His most powerful speeches: watch them. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!
2004 Democratic National Convention Speech Part 1
2004 Democratic National Convention Speech Part 2
